About Us

Welcome, I'm Elizabeth

Every journey begins with a question. Mine began by opening God’s Word and simply reading it.

Helping believers discover the beauty of God’s Word through Scripture-centered resources.

My heart is simple:

to help believers discover the beauty of God's Word,
understand the biblical foundations of their faith,
and grow closer to Him through Scripture.

A verse that shaped my journey

If you love Me, keep My commandments

John 14:15

ABOUT IAMGESHER

The name IAMGesher comes from the Hebrew word gesher, meaning “bridge.”Learn how this ministry was created to help bridge understanding between Scripture, biblical history, and believers seeking to grow deeper in their faith.

MEET ELIZABETH

Wife. Mother. Grandmother. Writer.

More importantly, someone who loves God and has spent years discovering the beauty of His Word.

MY JOURNEY

From growing up in church…

to walking away…

to returning with a desire to read Scripture for myself.

Discover how God transformed my understanding of His Word.

WHY I CREATED THESE RESOURCES

How do we honor Shabbat as a family?

That simple question changed everything.

What began around our family table eventually became IAMGesher.

My Testimony

My story began long before IAMGesher was ever created.

I grew up in a Pentecostal church and spent much of my childhood immersed in church life. We attended services throughout the week, and from an early age, I was taught to love God and respect His Word.

Like many people, however, life brought challenges. During my teenage years, I drifted away from church and stopped attending regularly. For many years, I walked a different path, yet God never stopped pursuing me.

In my early thirties, God led me back to Him. I became committed to a non-denominational Christian church and spent nearly ten years growing in my faith. Those years were valuable and helped strengthen my relationship with God, but I often felt there was something more I had not yet understood.

Eventually, I made a decision that would change everything.

I decided to read the Bible from beginning to end as carefully as I could, allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture. Rather than relying primarily on commentaries, traditions, or other people’s experiences, I wanted to understand what the Word of God actually said for myself.

As I read, questions began to arise.

I encountered commandments, practices, and instructions that appeared throughout Scripture but were rarely discussed in the churches I had attended. I read about the Sabbath, the biblical feasts, dietary instructions, and many other things that seemed deeply woven into God’s relationship with His people.

At the same time, I encountered passages such as, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” I struggled to reconcile what I was reading in Scripture with many of the explanations I found outside of Scripture.

The more I studied, the more I felt God drawing me deeper—not into legalism, but into relationship.

Another realization that profoundly shaped my journey was understanding that Yeshua Himself was Jewish. He lived among the Jewish people, observed the biblical feasts, honored the Sabbath, and participated in many of the customs and traditions of His day. That realization caused me to ask even more questions.

As I began learning about Jewish history, culture, and traditions, many passages of Scripture suddenly came alive in ways I had never experienced before. Customs that once seemed unfamiliar often provided beautiful context for understanding why certain things were said, why certain actions were taken, and how many events throughout Scripture unfolded. There were countless moments where I found myself saying, “Oh… now I understand.”

While I came to recognize that traditions should never replace God’s commandments, I also discovered that many traditions preserve valuable historical context that can deepen our appreciation of Scripture when understood in their proper place. Those discoveries only fueled my desire to continue studying, asking questions, and growing in my understanding of God’s Word.

What changed my life was realizing that obedience and love were never meant to be enemies.

I was not seeking salvation through works. I was not trying to earn righteousness. I simply loved God and wanted to honor Him.

As I began observing things like Shabbat and learning about the biblical feasts, what surprised me most was how these biblical practices strengthened my relationship with God. They helped me better understand His character, His faithfulness, His provision, and His plan of redemption through Messiah.

Shabbat became more than a day on a calendar. It became a weekly reminder to pause and delight in God.

Passover and Unleavened Bread reminded me of redemption.

First Fruits reminded me of the hope of resurrection through Yeshua.

Shavuot reminded me of God’s instruction and His desire to dwell among His people.

Sukkot reminded me of His provision, His presence, and the temporary nature of this life.

Even the dietary instructions became expressions of trust, reminding me that God’s ways are good and that He knows what is best for His people.

As my understanding grew, I also discovered how difficult and lonely this journey could sometimes be. Many friends, family members, and fellow believers often misunderstood my desire to follow these biblical practices. Some assumed I was trying to earn salvation or place myself under the law.

That was never my heart.

My desire was—and still is—to follow God because I love Him.

Yet through those experiences, God taught me not only to stand firm in my convictions, but also to extend grace to others who may be at a different place in their own walk of faith.  Many sincere believers love God deeply, even when their practices look different from mine.

That understanding became an important part of my journey.

That journey continues today, and it is from those experiences that IAMGesher was created.

Over the years, I found myself creating resources for my own family because I couldn’t find simple, Scripture-centered materials that explained both the biblical foundations and the historical context behind the feasts and other practices found throughout Scripture. Those personal resources eventually became the beginning of this ministry.

The name “Gesher” means “bridge,” and that is exactly what I hope this ministry will be—a bridge for believers who are asking questions, exploring the biblical roots of their faith, or seeking to better understand the commandments, feasts, and traditions found throughout Scripture.

My goal is not to tell people what they must do. My goal is to help them understand what the Bible says so they can study, pray, and seek God for themselves.

If you find yourself asking questions similar to the ones I once asked, I hope these resources encourage you, strengthen your faith, and help you continue your own journey of discovery in God’s Word.

How IAMGesher Began

IAMGesher was never part of a business plan.

It began around our family table.

As I started learning about Shabbat and the biblical feasts, I quickly discovered that knowing about them and actually observing them were two very different things. I wanted to honor God, but I often found myself asking practical questions.

What do we do on Shabbat?

How do we keep the evening focused on God?

How do we explain these things to family members and guests who have never experienced them before?

Many of the resources I found assumed readers already understood Jewish history and customs, while others focused almost entirely on traditions without clearly explaining their biblical foundations. On the other hand, many Christian resources mentioned the biblical feasts only briefly or overlooked them altogether.

I wasn’t looking for more opinions—I was looking for a simple, Scripture-centered resource that explained God’s commandments, provided historical context where it was helpful, and clearly distinguished between biblical instruction, historical traditions, and personal convictions.

As I continued studying, I also came to appreciate the value of understanding Jewish history and traditions. Knowing that Yeshua was Jewish and lived within the culture of His day opened my eyes to many passages of Scripture. Time and again, I experienced those wonderful “Oh… now I understand!” moments as customs and traditions helped explain why certain things were said, why certain actions were taken, and how many biblical events fit together.

Throughout this journey, I came to appreciate that while God’s commandments remain the foundation, historical traditions can provide valuable context that deepens our understanding of Scripture when viewed in their proper place.

When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I decided to create it myself.

The first resource I developed was a simple Shabbat guide for my family. It provided structure for our evening, helped us stay focused on God, and included Scripture readings that reminded us why we were gathering in the first place.

After a meal, conversations naturally drifted toward everyday life, so I included passages such as Deuteronomy’s reminder not to forget the Lord after we have eaten and are satisfied. These small additions helped us keep our attention on God’s faithfulness and provision throughout the evening.

Over time, that simple guide became an important part of our family’s weekly rhythm.

Eventually, I realized that if these resources were helping our family, they might help other families as well.

That led to additional guides for Passover, Sukkot, Hanukkah, and other biblical celebrations. Many of the people joining us had little or no understanding of the biblical feasts, and I wanted to provide clear explanations that connected every practice back to Scripture and, ultimately, back to God.

What began as resources for my own family slowly grew into IAMGesher.

The name IAMGesher comes from the Hebrew word gesher, meaning “bridge.” That remains my goal today: helping bridge understanding between the Scriptures, the biblical feasts, historical traditions, and modern believers seeking to understand their faith more deeply.

Many Christians encounter topics such as the Sabbath, Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot, Sukkot, prayer shawls, tassels, and other biblical practices, yet often struggle to understand their purpose or place within Scripture. IAMGesher exists to provide clear, Scripture-centered resources that help explain these subjects in a practical and approachable way.

While historical traditions and customs can provide valuable context, Scripture remains the foundation of everything presented here. My goal is to distinguish between God’s commandments, historical traditions, and personal convictions so that readers can study, pray, and seek God’s guidance for themselves.

Whether you are simply curious, exploring the biblical feasts for the first time, or looking for resources to help guide your family, I hope IAMGesher encourages you to grow in your understanding of God’s Word and deepen your relationship with Him.

Everything I create is designed with one purpose in mind—to help people understand God’s Word and draw closer to Him.

A little about me

Hello, I’m Elizabeth.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother of eight, writer, and lifelong student of Scripture. More importantly, I am someone who loves God and desires to understand His Word as faithfully as possible.

I grew up in church, stepped away from my faith during my teenage years, and later found my way back to God in my early thirties. After returning to church and spending many years growing in my faith, I felt a strong desire to study the Bible more deeply for myself.

As I read through Scripture from beginning to end, I began noticing commandments, biblical feasts, Sabbath, and traditions that I had rarely heard discussed. Those discoveries led me on a journey that changed the way I understood many passages of Scripture and gave me a much deeper appreciation for God’s instructions.

Along the way, I also discovered the richness of Jewish history and traditions. Learning about the culture in which Yeshua lived often brought Scripture to life in ways I had never experienced before. Many passages that once seemed difficult suddenly made sense, and I found myself having countless “Oh… now I understand!” moments. While Scripture remains my foundation, I came to appreciate how historical context can deepen our understanding of God’s Word.

As my family and I began observing Shabbat and the biblical feasts, I created simple, Scripture-centered resources to help guide our own gatherings. What started around our family table eventually grew into IAMGesher—a ministry dedicated to helping believers explore the biblical foundations of their faith through practical guides, devotionals, children’s resources, and Bible studies.

My heart is not to tell people what they must do, but to encourage them to study God’s Word, pray, and seek Him for themselves. I hope the resources I create help others discover the beauty of Scripture, understand the biblical foundations of their faith, and grow closer to God.

Why I created these resources

The resources you find on IAMGesher were first created for my own family.

When I first started observing Shabbat, I quickly discovered that knowing about it and actually practicing it were two different things. I wanted our family gatherings to remain centered on God, but I struggled to find simple, Scripture-focused materials that explained what we were doing and why.

Many of the resources I found focused heavily on traditions, while others offered little practical guidance. Although I appreciated learning about various customs, I wanted something that would keep our family centered on God, His Word, and the purpose behind our gathering.

So I created a simple guide for our own Shabbat table.

It included prayers, Scripture readings, communion, blessings, and reminders that helped keep our hearts focused on God throughout the evening. Over time, that guide became an important part of our family’s weekly rhythm.

As we began observing other biblical celebrations, I found myself creating additional resources for Passover, Sukkot, Hanukkah, and other occasions. With each new resource, my goal remained the same: to explain the biblical foundation first, provide historical context where it was helpful, and offer practical ways for families and groups to participate together.

Each guide was designed to answer common questions, encourage meaningful discussion, and help people better understand God’s Word while keeping the focus on Him.

Often, we would have guests join us who had never experienced these gatherings before. These resources became a way to answer questions, provide context, and keep the focus on God rather than simply on traditions.

What began around our family table eventually grew into IAMGesher.

Today, every resource I create is still inspired by that same desire—to help people understand God’s Word, remember His faithfulness, and experience a deeper relationship with Him. Whether it’s a feast guide, a children’s booklet, a devotional, or a Bible study, my hope is that each one points people back to Scripture.

Throughout every resource, I seek to distinguish between God’s commandments, historical traditions, and personal convictions so readers can understand each in its proper place while keeping Scripture as the foundation.

My greatest desire is to help believers fall in love with God’s Word, discover the beauty of His instructions, and confidently study Scripture for themselves.

Whether you’re simply curious, asking questions, or beginning your own journey through the biblical foundations of the faith, I’m glad you’re here.

Welcome to IAMGesher.

I pray these resources encourage you to grow in your understanding of God’s Word, deepen your walk with Him, and inspire you to continue your own journey through Scripture.
